Dimei Guang Chang Underground Shopping Arcade

What I expected.... (1000+ hours in ms paint)

You won't find Dimei Guang Chang on any tour guide's list of places to shop, nor will you find many locals (over 25) who are familiar with this shopping wonderland. Dimei Guang Chang is tucked underground beneath People's Square and is easy to miss if you don't know where to turn.

As the weather quickly cools down in Shanghai, people rapidly transition into their fall wardrobe. With that comes fluffy sweaters, cute boots and hats and the opportunity to layer. Fall weather also creates a perfect time to sight some amazingly cute outfits.

Here's what I saw the other day.... can you guess what it is? Here's a hint!

Let's Learn Chinese Together!

Welcome to the Classroom

Today I am going to introduce some basic and general terms you might find useful when shopping for apparel. I'm not a Chinese language teacher, nor am I a native speaker, but I've found the words below to be handy when shopping both in store and online so I'd like to share them with you.

Below is a graphic I quickly drew up to help illustrate the meanings. You can cover the words and test yourself to see if you know them all.
Let's begin!

Product Review: Facial Mask & BB Cream

Women all over Asia swear by their nightly face mask ritual to keep their skin looking fresh and young. I've tried out SASAtinne's Honey Peach for nourishing and brightening.

Liz Lisa Shanghai

Liz Lisa is Japanese fashion brand known for their ultra feminine and cute clothing. With frequent floral prints and use of chiffon fabrics it is a staple in most roma and himekaji gyaru wardrobes (not totally accurate, but here's a description of "gyaru"). The brand's concept has a strong focus on "Retro & Girlish", so needless to say, I love Liz Lisa! I was  excited to discover they have a store in Shanghai and quickly made my way over to check it out.

OPA Shanghai & Daiso 10 RMB shop

OPA Shanghai , opened in 2010, is a Japanese shopping mall which boasts the title of the "first large scale shopping mall in China dedicating almost its entire floor space to Japanese brands" (Tokyofashion.com). If you know anything about Japan, you must know that it's entire pop culture is built around the concept of kawaii, cute.

Knowing that, I set out to find this mall and see what the buzz is all about.
